Echos of Desolation: Abandoned Sanctuary

A highly detailed, atmospheric hospital environment developed in Unreal Engine, emphasizing environmental storytelling through realistic texturing and lighting. The scene leverages modular design principles to ensure consistency and efficiency while depicting decay and abandonment.

• Roles: Environment Artist, Lighting Artist
• Responsibilities: Asset creation, texturing, lighting, scene composition, optimization for real-time rendering
• Tools Used: Unreal Engine, Blender, Substance 3D Designer, After Effects, Quixel Megascans
• Research Applied : Callahan & McGill's (2021) modular architecture techniques, combined with insights from Lankhorst (2022), were applied to create reusable assets like walls and floors. This ensured consistency, efficiency, and flexibility in designing the abandoned hospital environment. Raj et al. (2019) provided guidance for texturing decayed materials, such as adding realistic layers of rust, dirt, and wear to assets like the Damaged Wall Tiles and Warehouse. These methods collectively conveyed the abandoned, eerie atmosphere while maintaining visual fidelity and performance.
